Concrete Resurfacing

Concrete Resurfacing

Restoring worn, stained and spalled concrete with a new wearing surface, instead of tearing it out.

Concrete resurfacing

Concrete can almost always be saved.

This is the work the company was built on. Most of the concrete people call us about looking to replace does not need replacing at all — it needs the surface dealt with. Fifty years in, the number of slabs we have genuinely had to turn away is small.

Resurfacing means restoring the slab you already own: the cracks chased and filled, the surface opened up and prepared, and a new finish bonded over the top of it. You keep the concrete, the footings and the drainage that are already working, and you skip the demolition entirely.

What's included

  • The slab you already have, restored rather than torn out and re-poured
  • Cracks chased, cleaned and filled before anything goes over the top
  • Interior slabs, patios, driveways, walkways and pool surrounds
  • Texture and color chosen to suit the house, not a catalogue default
  • Our own crews do the prep and the finish — nothing is subcontracted
  • Backed by five years on material and one year on labor

How we approach it

Prep is the job

A resurfacing job succeeds or fails in the preparation, and it fails months later rather than on the day, which is what makes cutting corners here so tempting for the people who do. Millions of square feet have taught us that a finish bonds because the concrete underneath it was opened, cleaned and made ready — not because of what came out of the bucket.

So that is where our time goes. Our own crews do the prep and the finish, the same people from start to end, and the result is backed by five years on material and one year on labor.

Concrete Resurfacing questions

Is resurfacing actually cheaper than replacing the concrete?

Almost always, and by a wide margin. Tearing out a slab means demolition, haul-away, new forms, new concrete and a cure before you can walk on it. Resurfacing keeps the slab that is already there and works over the top of it. The exception is a slab that has genuinely failed structurally — and if yours has, we will tell you that rather than sell you a finish that will fail with it.

My driveway is cracked. Can it still be resurfaced?

Usually yes. Cracks on their own are not a reason to replace concrete. We chase them out, clean them and fill them properly before any overlay goes down. What matters is why the crack is there — a settled or heaving slab is a different conversation from ordinary shrinkage cracking, and that is the sort of thing Dave looks at on the estimate.

How long before we can use it again?

It depends on the system and on the weather, and we will give you real numbers for your job rather than a brochure figure. Foot traffic comes back well before vehicles do, and we tell you both up front so you can plan around it.

Will the finish look like concrete or like something laid on top?

That is your call. Resurfacing can read as clean, honest concrete, or it can carry a texture and color that looks nothing like a gray slab — knock-down, flagstone, tile and stone patterns all start from the same place. We will show you what the surface you have will actually take.
