Yes, if it is specified for it and the slab is tested first. Salt air, sand and slabs that stay damp are all manageable — what is not manageable is a system chosen for inland conditions and laid without checking what moisture the concrete is holding.
Is resurfacing actually cheaper than replacing the concrete?
Almost always, and by a wide margin. Tearing out a slab means demolition, haul-away, new forms, new concrete and a cure before you can walk on it. Resurfacing keeps the slab that is already there and works over the top of it. The exception is a slab that has genuinely failed structurally — and if yours has, we will tell you that rather than sell you a finish that will fail with it.
My driveway is cracked. Can it still be resurfaced?
Usually yes. Cracks on their own are not a reason to replace concrete. We chase them out, clean them and fill them properly before any overlay goes down. What matters is why the crack is there — a settled or heaving slab is a different conversation from ordinary shrinkage cracking, and that is the sort of thing Dave looks at on the estimate.
