Microtopping & Concrete Overlays
Thin cementitious overlays that give old concrete a completely new surface, indoors or out.
Your concrete never really goes bad. It just gets ugly.
It can almost always be refinished and made to look better than new, and with a smaller price tag than replacement. We do that with an overlayment and microtopping process — a thin layer bonded over the slab you already have.
From basic knock-down texture designs through to flagstone and tile-like patterns, close to anything is possible. We can also incorporate the existing cracks into the design, working them into a stone-like pattern so they no longer appear to be a flaw. All of it improves the look of your concrete without the damaging effects of removing the slab.

An overlay system built to be patterned
David Paul Foster Co. offers Dexite, a concrete overlay system that turns ordinary concrete into something worth looking at. It carries patterns such as brick, stone, tile and cobblestone among many others, and the design you choose is applied directly over the existing concrete for an entirely new look.

Microtopping & Concrete Overlays questions
Do you have to tear out my old concrete first?
Almost never. Outside concrete rarely goes bad — it just gets ugly. An overlay goes straight over what is there, which avoids all the damage and cost that comes with removing a slab.
What about the cracks in my patio?
We can work them into the design. Laid into a stone-like pattern, a crack stops reading as a flaw and becomes part of the joint line.
What patterns can I have?
From a basic knock-down texture through to flagstone, tile, brick and cobblestone. We offer Dexite, an overlay system built for exactly this, and the design goes on directly over the existing concrete.
How long does it last?
It is a cementitious overlay bonded to a properly prepared slab, so its life comes down to the prep underneath it — which is the part of the job we have spent fifty years getting right.
